Core Tasks

The VDS offers its member companies comprehensive consulting and support in the areas of technology, economics, and law. The interests of individual member groups, particularly manufacturers of similar products, are represented in the VDS's commissions and addressed in technical committees and working groups as needed. In addition to the established working groups on "Environment" and "Occupational Health and Product Safety," ad-hoc working groups are convened as required.

Abrasives & Law

In the area of legal matters, the VDS informs on the requirements of existing case law, supports its members in interpreting the law, and represents the industry's interests to national legislators and at the European level. Association recommendations, template letters and position papers are developed.

Abrasives & Technology

In the area of technology, the focus is on grinding technology and, above all, safety-related issues. The VDS develops technical recommendations and plays a key role in the creation and revision of all standards relevant to abrasives on DIN, EN, and ISO level. Members also have access to targeted patent analysis.

Abrasives & Economics

In the area of economics, the VDS prepares detailed, specific sales statistics for its members and supports them in general economic matters. Regarding action against unfair competition, we are in contact with the German Wettbewerbszentrale.

List of all abrasives-related DIN, EN and ISO standards, VDI guidelines, and BG publications. The standards can be ordered from  DIN Media (www.dinmedia.de).
